Data Sources

MapGrid aggregates publicly available geographic data from the following government agencies and services:

  • New Jersey Geographic Information Network (NJGIN) — Parcel boundaries, MOD-IV assessment data, transportation, cadastral data
  • New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) — Known Contaminated Sites List (KCSL), wetlands, UST/LUST, historic fill, Landscape Project, Category One waters, Green Acres, tidelands
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) — National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL)
  • U.S. Census Bureau — American Community Survey (ACS) demographics
  • Pinelands Commission — Pinelands Management Area boundaries
  • NJ Highlands Council — Highlands Preservation and Planning Area boundaries
  • County and municipal GIS portals — Zoning, local overlays

Accuracy and Completeness

This data is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. MapGrid:

  • Is not authorized by, endorsed by, or affiliated with any NJ state agency
  • Does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data
  • May display data that is outdated due to refresh schedules (see data freshness indicators on each layer)
  • May contain errors introduced during ingestion or processing
  • Should not be used as the sole basis for any legal, financial, or environmental decision

Not a Substitute For

  • Phase I or Phase II Environmental Site Assessment (ASTM E1527-21)
  • Title search or title insurance
  • Professional land survey or ALTA/NSPS survey
  • Flood determination or elevation certificate
  • Legal opinion on environmental liability, zoning compliance, or land use

Environmental Risk Scores

Environmental risk scores displayed on MapGrid are derived estimates based on proximity analysis of public records. They are not professional environmental assessments. A low score does not mean a property is free of contamination. A high score does not confirm contamination. Always engage a qualified environmental professional for site-specific assessment.

Daniel's Law Compliance

In compliance with P.L. 2020 c.125 (as amended by P.L. 2021 c.371), MapGrid does not display, store, or redistribute property owner names that have been redacted from NJ state-hosted geospatial data. Owner information, if displayed, is sourced from publicly recorded deed instruments.

NJDEP Required Notice

This product uses data from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. The data is provided for informational purposes only and is not endorsed or certified by the NJDEP. Users should consult the NJDEP directly for official determinations.

Federal Data

Federal data (FEMA, Census, USDA, EPA, USGS) is in the public domain per 17 U.S.C. §105 and is redistributed with attribution.
